STATEMENT ON THREATS AGAINST TRUTH AND ACCOUNTABILITY
The Congress of Bosniaks of North America strongly condemns all threats of violence directed at individuals and organizations engaged in the pursuit of truth, justice, and genocide education, including most recently, the Institute For Research Of Genocide Canada (IGC) and its Director, Dr. Emir Ramić.
Intimidation, hate speech, and threats against families have no place in any society – particularly when directed at those working to preserve the historical truth of the genocide in Srebrenica and the broader atrocities committed during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Such actions are not only morally reprehensible, but they also undermine the fundamental principles of accountability and the rule of law.
We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to the values that guide our work – values we share with the Institute For Research Of Genocide Canada (IGC): respect for facts, preservation of memory, and the pursuit of justice through credible, responsible, and principled engagement.
At a time when denial of the Srebrenica genocide and revisionist narratives about the 1992–1995 war continue to pose serious challenges, it is essential that institutions, civil society, and community leaders remain united in rejecting attacks against Bosniaks and supporting efforts rooted in truth, education, and remembrance.
We encourage relevant authorities to take all necessary steps to ensure the safety of those targeted and to address threats with the seriousness they warrant.
