SREBRENICA REMEMBRANCE DAY IN EDMONTON

WHEREAS, in July 1995, more than 8,372 Bosniaks in Srebrenica were
murdered by the Republic of Srpska; AND WHEREAS, the Srebrenica Massacre is the largest mass murder in Europe since World War Il and the largest massacre during the Bosnian war, and
WHEREAS, our city is made stronger by the experiences of ethnic
communities that form Edmonton’s culturally diverse landscape; and WHEREAS, the City of Edmonton remains committed to reconciling
our world’s history so that we do not repeat past mistakes;
THEREFORE I, MAYOR AMARJEET SOHI, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM JULY 11, 2024 “SREBRENICA REMEMBRANCE DAY” IN EDMONTON,
ALBERTA’S CAPITAL CITY.
